Job Purpose
•Provide 1st and 2nd line users support to all the client Group employees.
•To provide an administration function for the company IT systems.
•To undertake various technical projects within the Information Systems department.
•Manage and maintain the integrity of the infrastructure to comply with current IS policies.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
• Provide general technical support to the IS function and the company’s end users.
• Regular visits to all company sites to provide on-site assistance to end users and provide proactive support for the infrastructure.
• Ensure the smooth running of the various systems within the department and respond to technical problems in a timely manner.
• New hardware deployment/re-deployment.
• User administration for all IS Systems.
• To manage software/hardware inventory and licensing.
• To assure an appropriate level of security for all servers and the information stored on them.
• Proactively seek out any areas for improvement and make recommendations.
• To recommend, test and perform the installation of upgrades and patches to supported applications and operating systems.
• To test and update the disaster recovery plan for the IS Dept.
• To prepare and maintain appropriate documentation of tasks associated with the operation of the IS Dept.
• To liaise with support contract supplier regarding hardware problems.
• Evaluate and then manage the deployment of new systems and system updates, working with various functions to ensure minimum disruption to the business, as part of the project lifestyle.
• To place purchase orders for software and hardware with approved suppliers.
Resources
• Jobholder is responsible for recommending suppliers and spending accordingly.
• The jobholder is required to specify consumables, software and hardware purchasing.
Decision Making
• Troubleshooting any system problems – fault find and resolve. Could be hardware, software, user or data related.
• Jobholder would use own expertise and experience, consult with line manager and other members of the Infrastructure & Support team/search online technical support sites/help desks on technical issues.
• Consult with relevant business functions in the specification and deployment of new systems and upgrades.
• Would make recommendations for software and systems deployments and upgrades following evaluation.
Working Relationships
• Jobholder will have day to day interaction with other members of the IS department, will respond to issues and requirements from across all departments and externally interact with suppliers and potential suppliers.
• Jobholder will have regular contact with all client sites.
• Jobholder has no day to day supervisory responsibility for others.
Communication
• The jobholder will be required to communicate verbally on the telephone and on e-mail within the immediate team and with others identified above.
• The jobholder will be required to participate in meetings
• The jobholder will be required to write reports as required.
• The jobholder will be required to write technical and project reports.
• The jobholder will be required to give training either on a one to one basis or to a group of staff.
• The jobholder may be required to carry out presentations to the management team on a regular basis on the progress of projects.
• The jobholder may be expected to run small project meetings
Knowledge & Skills
•An education level to A level standard, HND or equivalent, preferably in a Computing, Science or Business discipline
•Experience of Oracle e-Business Suite, ideally release 12+
•IS certifications e.g. Oracle / Linux / Networking / Microsoft are desirable
• Experience of working as part of an IT team, having accumulated a wide and varied range of IT knowledge and skills, preferably in a manufacturing company.
• Experience of working with an ITIL environment management is desirable
• Good understanding of all business functions and how they interlink.
• Good level of technical expertise, ideally:
• Linux platform administration
• Databases – Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server & Access.
• Reporting tools – Eclipse BIRT, Oracle Reports, Oracle BI Publisher
• Languages – Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL
• Excellent problem solving skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work well with people at all levels of the organisation
• Ability to travel to other company sites (UK and Europe)
